Deriving Belief Operators from Preferences
نویسندگان
چکیده
A belief operator derived from preferences is presented. It generalizes ‘belief with probability 1’ to incomplete preferences and satisfies minimal requirements for belief operators under weak conditions. JEL Classification no: D81.

Cumulative and Averaging Unfusion of Beliefs
Belief fusion is the principle of combining separate beliefs or bodies of evidence originating from different sources. Depending on the situation to be modelled, different belief fusion methods can be applied. Cumulative and averaging belief fusion is defined for fusing opinions in subjective logic, and for fusing belief functions in general. The principle of unfusion is the opposite of fusion,...
متن کاملPreference-based belief operators
We show how different kinds of belief operators derived from preferences can be defined in terms an accessibility relation of epistemic priority, and characterized by means of a vector of nested accessibility relations. The semantic structure enable us to compare and reconcile certain non-standard notions of belief that have recently been used in epistemic analyses of games.
متن کاملFrom Belief Change to Preference Change
Various tasks need to consider preferences in a dynamic way. We start by discussing several possible meanings of preference change, and then focus on the one we think is the most natural: preferences evolving after some new fact has been learned. We define a family of such preference change operators, parameterized by a revision function on epistemic states and a semantics for interpreting pref...

متن کاملDempster's Rule as Seen by Little Colored Balls
Dempster’s rule is traditionally interpreted as an operator for fusing belief functions. While there are different types of belief fusion, there has been considerable confusion regarding the exact type of operation that Dempster’s rule performs. Many alternative operators for belief fusion have been proposed, where some are based on the same fundamental principle as Dempster’s rule, and others ...
